I was in the immigration line for 2 hours when I came back in Feb. As a GC holder, I am usually instructed to stand in the US passport line with my US citizen family members, but this time I was instructed to stand in the tourist line with my family members because of the new rules. So all the US Passport family members stood in the tourist line with me for 2 hours.

When my turn finally came, all of my US citizen family members were sent to a separate room with me, and they were also inconvenienced. I have a feeling that even if I apply for Global Entry, it will be rejected because of my history of visa denial decades ago.

I used to be sent to a separate room every time, so I got a redress number, and after getting the number, I don't have to be sent to a separate room anymore, but this time, the officer at the counter happened to be new, and all my family members were exhausted after being sent to a separate room for a long time.

I want to get global entry, but I think I will fail in the screening process, so I have given up on MPC for now ….

I returned to Hawaii from Japan last week.
This was my first
airport immigration since getting Global Entry.
The tourist lanes were not as long as in October, but
the Global Entry lanes were
the smoothest I have ever seen.
I was glad I got Global Entry.

This year, I flew back to Hawaii on ANA. Since I arrived at 8:00 a.m., there was no one in line.

Last time, I flew JAL and arrived after 9:00 a.m., so I had to wait in line for nearly an hour at Honolulu Airport without a Global Entry card.

I think if I continue flying ANA, I probably won’t need Global Entry.

I am paying $80 for above service once a month. But I do vacuum. I also detail cleaning by myself. Cleaning lady spends total 2 hours which is $40 per hour. I do not need to vacuum but I want help her as much as I can . I want ask her to stay at least 3 hours but I feel sorry since it takes 40 minutes to come to my house.

Previous cleaning lady was charging $120 for 2 hours which is $60 per hour.

Since I am retired, I do cleaning by myself too. Fake plants, stove, 4 Japanese dolls glass cases, window glasses, kitchen fan, refrigerator, kitchen cabinet door, sink.., and so on. Endless!!!

Wow ！ Iolani has zero ⁇ from Harvard, Princeton, MIT, and Stanford ！
I thought there were a few Iolani who went to MIT every year.
I thought there were a few people going to MIT every year in Iolani. UC schools like UCLA and UC Berkeley are not as common as in Punahou, but UC San Diego, Davis and Irvine are more common.
My son is studying for the middle school entrance exam, and Tutor told me that the SSAT passing line for middle school is also 10% higher than Punahou.
Iolani is also good for Kinder because it's easy to get in, but if you look at their graduation record, … it's not as good as Punahou.
Punahou is still a good choice.

If you want to go to college in the Mainland, you need at least $70,000/year.
This also goes up every year.
If this is not financially feasible for you, you should not choose Punahou or Iolani in the first place ？
There are 12796 students at UH. That's about 3200 students/year.
There are about 50 people in total who go to UH from Punahou and Iolani.
Mid-pack and others combined would not be 100 people.
In other words, an estimated 3,100 are enrolled from Public.
I think there is an option to go to UH while getting top grades at Public instead of choosing Punahou or Iolani from the start.
This would save about $400,000 over 12 years.

If you are accepted to the college you apply to, you will be notified of the cost and the scholarship you will receive after the acceptance letter.
I thought I would get a few scholarships even on a need-based basis.
In fact, it was merit-based only.

In the end, I had the painful experience of convincing my daughter, who was accepted, that it was financially impossible.
The good thing about going to Iolani is that I got accepted to a lot of good colleges even though I couldn't go, and I made a lot of good friends.

MPC application, I used it last year to enter the country. I am a green card holder and my son is a citizen, but we were able to use it.

Still, last time （ I returned to LAX last May ） everything was full of private cars, including curbside, and the Flyaway Bus from SFV took extra time before stopping in front of me. But thanks to that bus, I didn't have to be picked up privately, and I was able to get back to the Van Nuys terminal without a hitch.
