Everyone, have you ever heard of a restaurant called “Kyushu Ramen”?

I think only people who lived here in the Valley\ (San Fernando Valley), but back then, the only Japanese restaurant in the Valley was “Benihana,” famous for its teppanyaki. That restaurant catered primarily to long-time American residents, mostly white people.

I was initially sent to this Valley as an expatriate employee of a Japanese company, and but the Japanese restaurants back then were filled almost exclusively with white and Latino customers. The menus focused on tempura ・, teriyaki ・, and sushi, and to me, the taste was so bad I’d think, “What is this?”—it was simply inedible.

So whenever I wanted to eat authentic Japanese food, I had to drive down the freeway all the way to Little Tokyo downtown.

A few years later, “Kyushu Ramen,” the first ramen shop in the Valley run by Japanese people, opened. Well, the taste wasn’t quite what I’d expected, but since there were no other ramen shops that “really” served ramen, I went there about once a week.

Also around that time, there was a Japanese celebrity’s U.S. office （—just a single-family home ）—in this valley, and it seems that celebrities who were frequently seen on Japanese TV at the time would often come by. Then, one time while I was slurping ramen at the aforementioned “Kyushu Ramen,” Namie Amuro—who was popular at the time—walked in with her local agent and sat down at the table next to mine, with her back to me. Well, I’m not a fan of hers or anything; I just wanted to mention that it happened.

I can log in through the Yahoo website and check my email there, but it doesn't seem to sync with the Mail app on my iPhone ？—the one that comes pre-installed on the iPhone. I'm thinking ？ that there might be some restrictions because I live overseas.
I’m busy today, so I’m thinking of stopping by the Apple Store tomorrow, but since it’s a Japanese Yahoo Mail account, I’m worried they might not be able to resolve the issue.

As Ko-ji-san mentioned, I tried disabling access from overseas yesterday, but it didn't work.
Today, I received helpful advice at the Apple Store, and we tried all sorts of solutions, but we couldn’t resolve the issue. For now, they set up a bookmark for Yahoo! Japan Mail, and I’ve been opening it from there. Although I’ve saved my password and other information on my smartphone, I have to go through text verification every time I open it, which is a hassle.
The Apple representative told me to try opening it again from the iPhone Mail app after a while—they said there’s a chance it might start working for some reason, but they couldn’t say for sure. They mentioned that this kind of thing happens from time to time.
I imagine there are many people living overseas who use the Yahoo! Japan Mail service—has anyone else been affected by this?

Thinking that might be the case, I did a search and found a website called the Internet Crime Complaint Center, run by the FBI, so I’ll file a report there.

I think it's a good idea to go to the local police station in the city where the incident occurred.
Why not file a report with both? If it gets forwarded to the FBI, that's fine too.

I’ve been bored lately, so I’ve been answering calls from strangers on my cell phone, but there are so many scams.

Someone claiming to be from Citi Bank asked if I had authorized some suspicious account activity. I checked my credit card statement on my computer and saw nothing unusual, so I hung up.

I received a call from US Bank $ asking if I’d bought a firearm for 9,000, and I told them to “go to hell.” When I looked up the phone number, it was listed as US Bank, but it was also listed as a number used by scammers. There was even a fake US Bank website linked to this scam number.

I also got a call from Bank of America about suspicious activity, but I happened to have my son take the call, and he yelled, “What do you want? Get to the point—what do you want?”

Here’s a follow-up.
Immediately after realizing I’d been scammed, I called CITIBANK to explain the situation, and the $420 that had been fraudulently taken via Zelle was placed under dispute.
After that, I opened a new account, and since my new ATM/debit card arrived today, I activated it right away. When I checked my account activity online, I saw that the $420 had been refunded. ！ I was a little moved. I’m really impressed by CITIBANK’s prompt response.

If a call comes from a number I don’t recognize, I “absolutely” never answer it.

Friends I already know ・ acquaintances, or financial institutions ・ or business contacts—are already saved in my phone. When they call, their specific names appear on the screen, so if a call comes in without that name displayed, I absolutely never press the answer button.

If the display shows only a phone number, I completely ignore it and leave it alone until the ring stops.

Since scammers make calls automatically using computers, it seems that if there’s no answer after a few attempts, the system automatically deletes the number.

I’m having a hard time with crabgrass. It blooms with small yellow flowers. I’m thinking of building a studio on half of my yard. Since I’d be covering it with concrete anyway, I might as well turn it into a rental unit. $ It’s ridiculous to hire someone at 20 an hour just to pull it out—it just grows back anyway. It was cold, so I didn’t check the garden, and before I knew it, it had spread like wildfire. I treat it as an hour of daily exercise.

I’ve been diligently killing crabgrass, so there isn’t much left.

I’m also tempted to expand half of the front yard into the living room.

Every week, a trash can big enough for two people gets filled with tree branches, grass, and other debris. I have 14 fruit trees. I regret digging up the lawn when I was younger to plant flowers and trees, but it’s really soothing.

I imagine it takes a lot of effort just to cut back all that unwanted vegetation.

At my place, the area is covered with large, bushy leaves from the Grand Cover grass that looks nice, but I’m worried because crabgrass has spread all over the ground underneath.

Instead of skimping and trying to save the “Grand Cover” grass, I’m thinking of growing a small amount of it elsewhere and treating the entire area with crabgrass killer. I guess this will be a year-long project.

Once crabgrass gets big, it takes the strength of a burly man to pull it out. As an elderly woman, I usually give up after about ten tries. When I go for a walk, I see spots where the lawn has lost the battle to crabgrass and looks absolutely miserable, but I suppose I just have to ignore it. I guess the only option is to use herbicide. I sprayed some on the crabgrass, but the surrounding grass died too. It really does work. Since I’m retired, I’m just pulling them out little by little.
