Iolani School Our second daughter also passed Kinder this year. Our oldest daughter passed the Kinder test a few years ago at Punahou School in the weight pool and Iolani School in the weight pool, so our oldest daughter is now attending Iolani School. Our second daughter will be attending the acceptance event tomorrow, but we are not sure if we want her to attend.
As others have said, it seems that 1 in 2 students are accepted this year. Apparently they sent out about 390 applications and less than 300 actually took the test. Last year it was 4 times the number of applicants, so the ratio seems to have dropped considerably this year. I wonder if this was due to the change of principal last year, the extreme bias towards nationalism, and the discovery of unreliable educational policies due to the school's bullying problems in the news and in the public domain.
I am not sure if I will send my second daughter to the school because I have had many "hmmm..." moments as a parent after sending my eldest daughter there. Counselors solve everything ！ is the norm at actual Iolani schools. The counselors also intervene in small fights and hassles between elementary school children. My second daughter was also disappointed in Kinder at Punahou School, so we are considering Iolani School or another school and will make a decision.
I worry about choosing a school when I take the entrance exam and even after I am accepted. ！

Punahou 2022 ～ 2025 over 4 years UH Manoa Total 129 students about 32 students/year. They have 8.46% going to the state of Hawaii.
Iolani has 13 of 2024 graduates who went to UH Manoa out of 207, 19 of 231 in 2025.
Iolani does not have many UHs. They are about the same.
The prestigious universities they go to are not that different.
I think both Punahou and Iolani are good schools that are comparable.
Schools have their ups and downs. From what everyone is saying now, Punahou seems to be the better school, but it may change again by the time you go to school.
I would consider myself lucky and happy if I got accepted to Iolani.
