Held for the first time in 10 years ！ Gunma Prefecture's only Ota City Daimyo Gyoretsu

During the Edo period, the former Ota district of Ota City was a territory （ under the direct control of the shogunate ） due to the presence of the mausoleum of the Nitta clan, the ancestor of the Tokugawa family. It was also an inn （ Ota-juku ） through which the Imperial Envoy （ Muhoishimichi, the route of the Imperial Envoy ） from the Imperial Court in Kyoto to Nikko Toshogu, passed from west to east, and the procession of feudal lords visiting Nikko also passed through.

It was discovered that about 170 years ago, at the end of the Edo period, various tools of the 100,000 koku rank used in the daimyo's procession were stored in the storehouse of an old family in （ Nishimoto-cho, Ota City, formerly Oshima-juku ）.

Volunteers from the local （ Nishimoto ） community researched the origin ・ and history of these tools, asked the elders, and under the guidance of experts, restored the Daimyo Gyoretsu using these tools and performed it as entertainment for the summer festival Gion, which was very popular.

Since then, the Ota Daimyo Gyoretsu has been performed not only in Ota, but also in other places, starting with the triumphal return celebration of the 15th Takasaki Regiment in February 1906, the 50th anniversary of the opening of the port of Yokohama, the 300th anniversary of Tokugawa Ieyasu at Shiba Zojoji Temple, and the 300th anniversary of Mito Yoshikune. It is the only cultural heritage of Ota in Gunma Prefecture with a history of performances throughout the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras.
