🌆 Development projects in response to the City Council's Growth Plan

Hillcrest, one of San Diego's best-located neighborhoods, is now undergoing major changes: in July 2024, the mayor of San Diego signed plans to build 17,000 new housing units in the area and in November construction began on a promenade, parks, and other public spaces. The City of San Diego is trying to double the population of this area to create a downtown-like neighborhood with transportation infrastructure and high-rise buildings.

We at "SD Daruma Inc." have been advocating for the need for large-scale real estate development in this Hillcrest since 2019, before this plan was announced. Our goals and those of the city are aligned: addressing climate change, addressing the housing shortage, and creating living spaces that respect diverse values. We are taking advantage of this opportunity to create a large-scale real estate development that combines residential ・ commercial ・ and hotel.

Promote revitalization and economic growth throughout the region by attracting restaurants, retailers, cafes, art spaces, and other amenities

Create jobs and attract wealthy residents, which will help increase tax revenues and stabilize the regional economy.

Help create a more inclusive community by providing low-income housing and establishing a special district that respects Hillcrest's LGBTQ+ culture and history.


👉 "NPO Daruma" addresses homelessness

Ueda, president of SD Daruma Inc. Ueda has been deeply concerned about homelessness in San Diego and other cities such as Los Angeles for many years. To address this issue, he founded the NPO Daruma in 2020 with the lofty goal of reducing homelessness to zero by the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and is calling on businesses and investors to help him plan his next project.

・ Provide buildable Tiny Houses with a construction cost of $ less than 10,000 per unit to provide a living base for the homeless and encourage self-sufficiency
・ Build livable cities for the homeless and other vulnerable populations through rail-based urban development and others
