Nara City Art Project "Ancient Capital Celebration Nara 2024-2025

This is to announce the ongoing programs of the Nara City Art Project "Ancient City Celebration Nara （ Koto Hogu Nara ）", which started as a result of the East Asia Culture City 2016 Nara City in 2016, and to invite visitors.

① Naramachi Wandering
"Naramachi Wandering" is a program to create an environment that enables various kinds of "wandering" and "wandering （ ）" in vacant lots and gardens in Naramachi, and to create a place for learning together in which citizens can continuously participate. This is a program.

The program started in October, and will continue for one week on November 23 （ Saturday ） ～ December 1 （ Sunday ） as Wandering Week, with workshops, exhibitions, performances, and discussions at various locations in the Naramachi neighborhood. A variety of events such as workshops, exhibitions, performances, and round-table discussions will be held at various locations in the Naramachi area.


② Machinaka Stage

The first program of this year, where the town of Nara will be the stage and performances will be held in parks and on the streets.

This year's theme is "Now this Nara". Individual ・ groups gathered from the public will perform works that give a sense of Nara's bright future.


① Naramachi Wandering
1. Purpose
The term "wandering," which is also a neuroscience term, means "wandering （, wandering ）" or "getting lost. They are fundamental and important to human cognition and action, and to deepen thinking and learning. In "Naramachi Wandering," we will foster the sprouting of new expressions and opportunities for citizens to learn from each other as we all wander around vacant lots, parks, and gardens in Nara City.

Director Hiroshi Fuji and participating artists Ryuichiro Ando, Soichiro Iida, Yusuke Kazama, Itaru Sugiyama, Miya Nishio, Bubu ・ de ・ La ・ Madeleine will be organizing "Seminar （ Laboratory ）," "Lab （ Laboratory ", "Club Activities", and "Classroom Study". Under these four categories of activities, various programs and workshops will be held to explore different themes while encountering the town and people of Nara.

During the Wandering Week, from November 23 （ Saturday ） to December 1 （ Sunday ）, exhibitions, workshops and other events will be held at various locations in the Naramachi neighborhood based on "Kotona Labo" which opened in the Naramachi Center this August. workshops and other events will be held at various locations in the Naramachi area. ② Machinaka Stage Call for Audience
1. The "Machinaka Butai" is a theatrical program that goes out of the theater and stages a variety of theatrical productions in the town of Nara.

We will explore the possibilities of new forms of expression utilizing Nara's rich historical culture and create opportunities for many people to develop an interest in theater by performing in the town.
