About the Ukulele Foundation ・ of ・ Hawaii
A nonprofit organization established in October 2007 by a group led by Kazuyuki Sekiguchi. Aiming to establish a “museum where visitors can learn about the history of the ukulele and Hawaiian music,” the organization hosts events such as the “International Ukulele ・ Contest” and the “International Ukulele ・ Festival.” It provides opportunities for people around the world to connect through the ukulele.
Kazuyuki Sekiguchi and the Ukulele ・ Picnic ・ in ・ Hawaii
As a founding member of the Southern All-Stars who has had a profound influence on the Japanese music scene, developed a deep passion for the ukulele in 19991 after meeting the renowned ukulele virtuoso Herb ・ Ota. Impressed by Mr. Ota’s performance, he traveled from Japan to Hawaii for the first time to attend the “Ukulele ・ Festival ・ Hawaii,” where he sought direct instruction from Mr. Sakuma and established a mentor-student relationship with him. In 2009, guided by the philosophy of “connecting people through the ukulele,” he launched the free event “Ukulele ・ Picnic ・ in ・ Hawaii.” Attracting more than 5,000 visitors from around the world each year, it has become a place to share the charm of the ukulele and a appreciation for Hawaiian music, growing into an event beloved by both tourists and locals alike. In 2022, he formed the “1933 Ukulele ・ All-Stars” and, together with Boo Takagi, Yoshio Nomura, Yoko Ogino, YANAGIMAN, Kimiko Wakuyama, and Yutaka Hatakeyama, is working to further spread ukulele culture.
About Roy ・ Sakuma
Innovative, warm-hearted, and full of humor, has devoted himself to ukulele education for over 55 years, influencing thousands of students and the entire Hawaiian community. In the 1960s, when the guitar was the dominant instrument, he believed in the value of the ukulele. Together with his wife, Kathy, and his staff, he launched the world’s first “Ukulele ・ Festival,” and that spirit continues to be passed on to many people today. -

Vivinavi KobeThe Hydrangeas at “Hydrangea Temple” Raikō-ji, Which Add Color to the Season, Are Now at Their Best / Kawanishi City, Hyogo PrefectureThis text has been translated by auto-translation. There may be a slight difference between the original text and the translation. (Original Language: 日本語)
In Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, “Raikō-ji ( ),” known as the “Hydrangea Temple,” ( Higashi-Aze no 2-chome ) is currently at its peak, with approximately 500 hydrangea plants in vivid shades of blue, pink, and other colors on full display. Many local residents are visiting the temple grounds to catch a glimpse of the beautiful hydrangeas, enjoying the view and taking photos. * Admission is free
This year, hydrangeas in a variety of colors are blooming on the grounds of Raikō-ji Temple, and they will remain at their peak until around early July.
It has become a popular photography spot for photography enthusiasts, and some visitors reportedly arrive as early as dawn, when the colors are said to be at their most beautiful.
The hydrangeas blooming at the temple are mainly “Western hydrangeas,” characterized by their large, voluminous flowers and a wide variety of vibrant colors. Other varieties, such as “Otafuku” and “Sumida Fireworks,” are also in bloom, and approximately one-third of the temple grounds are adorned with hydrangeas. It is well known that the color of hydrangeas varies depending on the soil conditions, and at this temple, blue varieties are particularly prevalent.
This temple was founded by the monk Genken, son of Minamoto no Mitsunaka, her son, Gen Ken Sōzu ( (whose childhood name was : Bijomaru )).
In Shōwa 49, to celebrate the reconstruction of the main hall, the Kawanishi City Tourism Association donated approximately 100 hydrangea plants. Inspired by the desire to “bring joy to the local community,” the former head priest and others carefully tended to them, resulting in an abundance of blooms.
Affectionately known as the “Hydrangea Temple,” this temple attracts many visitors from both within and outside the city, who come to enjoy the hydrangeas that still bloom in vibrant colors. During the peak blooming season, some visitors stop by while hiking or on “gin-kō” excursions to find inspiration for haiku and other creative works.
The temple is located about 300 meters northwest of the Nose Electric Railway’s “Aze-no” Station, about a 5 ~ to 6-minute walk. Once you pass under the overpass where the Nose Electric Railway runs, hydrangeas lining both sides of the stairs leading to the temple grounds welcome visitors.- 兵庫県

Once children turn one year old, their activity levels increase, leading to more opportunities for social interaction beyond time spent solely with family. For this reason, this is often said to be a time when parents begin to experience new concerns and worries regarding their child’s growth and development.
This session will focus on “picky eating.”
Even if a child doesn’t have extreme likes and dislikes, they may refuse to eat certain foods out of prejudice, dislike certain tastes, textures, or seasonings, or their preferences may change due to shifts in their environment. By sharing ideas and insights with one another, we may be able to address these issues in a positive way. We also hope to have experts well-versed in child development join us, so we can exchange ideas together.
While this event is primarily for children ages 1–5, expectant mothers, parents of infants, and parents of elementary school students are also welcome to attend. We also encourage anyone involved in child-rearing support to join us.
Please feel free to contact us at help@jbline.org with any questions.
