Japanese Language Teacher Training Course: Elementary

Starting in September 2024, Japan ・ Society will offer the "Japanese Language Teacher Training Course ： Elementary Level". Participants must be native speakers of Japanese or equivalent and have no or limited experience as a Japanese language teacher. The course focuses on how to teach a class, and provides clear explanations of various topics useful for teaching beginner level Japanese, including how to plan lessons, classroom teaching methods, exercises, homework, supplementary materials, how to use audio materials and textbooks, and how to teach kana and kanji. The course is designed to be a very useful course for beginner-level Japanese language teachers. After completing the course, students can join the Japan ・ Society's Japanese classes as a teacher's assistant. Some students are later employed as tutors at Hunter College or as graders at NYU. In addition, more than half of the teachers currently working at the Language Center are graduates of this beginner's course and the intermediate course held in the spring semester.

This semester we offer two sections.

Section A
Wednesdays, September 25 - December 4 （ No class on November 27 ）
10:30 am - 1:30 pm （ US Eastern Time ）

Section B
Every Saturday, Sept. 28 - Dec. 7 （ No class on Nov. 30 ）
10:00 am - 1:00 pm （ US Eastern Time ）
