I started with a deep cleaning first though.

It was like gouging the root of the tooth, but I didn't feel any pain.

Sometimes the scaler would sting a little.

I didn't feel any pain after the cleaning, and my teeth felt clean, so I was personally glad I did it.

I recently had a deep cleaning of my teeth for the first time in my life. I had anesthesia and did a great gouging and went all the way down to the inside of my gums. My gums were sore for a few days afterwards. But then I noticed that the pain was gone. I don't have alveolar pyorrhea, but I'm getting old and have a dry mouth, so I've gone from not even having tartar on my teeth to having to have deep cleanings. Come to think of it, I haven't had a cleaning in the last two years.

I'd love to do it, but I can't do it with insurance because I don't need it, so I only do maintenance cleanings. If it bleeds, it sounds like dirt buildup and inflammation or something like that.
