Special Olympics Hawaii Hosts the "17th Over ・ the ・ Edge"

Special Olympics Hawaii, On Saturday, October 17, 2026 (, ) will host a charity event featuring a vertical descent from a height of
over 120 meters down the exterior wall of the
Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa .
We are raising funds to support the activities of Special Olympics Hawaii and increase awareness of the organization.

Why not support the athletes of Special Olympics Hawaii while enjoying breathtaking views of Waikiki and Diamond Head and a once-in-a-lifetime experience? The 17th annual “Over ・ the ・ Edge” charity event will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026 ( ), at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. Participants will take on the thrilling and unique challenge of rappelling down the hotel’s exterior wall for over 120 meters. You can even pause during the descent to take photos of the endless blue ocean. Participants can enter individually or form teams with coworkers, friends, or family members. To register, visit bit.ly/sohiote2026から. Since space is limited, we recommend that those interested register as soon as possible.

The registration fee is $100 per person; for team participants, it is $25 per person. Participants must weigh between 45 and 136 kilograms. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and have a signed consent form.

Tracy, Development Director for Special Olympics Hawaii, Tracy ・ Bender, said, “Over ・ the ・ Edge has grown into an event that reflects the strength and special spirit of our community. What makes this event special for participants is not only the challenge of rappelling along the rope down Waikiki’s beautiful coastline, but also the immense strength it instills in our athletes. Everyone faces their own fears and difficulties and overcomes them. This truly mirrors what our athletes experience every day,” she says.

All participants will receive a commemorative 17th-anniversary “Over ・ the ・ Edge” T-shirt. Participants who raise $1,000 or more will also receive additional prizes. All funds raised will be used to support athletes throughout the State of Hawaii. Since its inaugural event in 2009, Over ・ the ・ Edge has raised a total of more than $2,247,500 for Special Olympics Hawaii athletes and programs.

This event is presented in partnership with Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa, our Silver Medal Sponsor, which has provided the venue for 12 consecutive years, and New York Life. Even if you cannot attend the event, you can support Special Olympics Hawaii by donating to bit.ly/sohiote2026から税控除対象の寄付や or to one of the brave participants. This year’s Over ・ the ・ Edge aims to raise $203,000 in donations.
