車のスモッグテスト見事におとされました。で、パスさせようと、行き着けのメカニックにいったら、うちでは出来ないからと、イ−ストＬＡのアサ○オートを紹介されました。それが二日前の話。今朝の電話で修理費が全額で９００ドルかかるいわれました。僕は車の事は全くの素人で全然わかりません。勿論車によって故障具合も異なるとは思いますが、これってぼったくられてるぅ？？何方か教えてください。お願いします。

コンバーターを中古のやつをつけてセンサーを替えてスモッグをしても＄２５０位でよくいっても＄４００まで位ですよ！！乗っている車が大衆車だったらこんなもんです。日本車、アメ車の場合。

あぁ、なるほど。つまり中古ではなく新品のコンバ−タ−に取替えたから４００ドルぐらいかかったという事ですね。修理してもらう前に中古のやつは無いかと聞いてみればよかった。

#13,#14ともに言ってる事あってます。
BMWなんて7シリーズだとCatalytic converter(触媒)は社外品でも＄900.00でそれが2個ついてる。いつもお客に紹介するスモッグ屋は日本車の大衆車なら触媒、O2センサーともに交換しても＃14の言うような金額でやってくれる。でもこれは中古でなく社外品の新品です。触媒とかO2センサーはいまどき中古というのは使いにくい。どっちの部品も白金やジルコニウムという酸素に反応する貴金属で素子をコーティングしてあるのだけどそれが不純物の付着で反応が低下するから交換することになるので中古だと性能が十分かどうかが不明だからね。

皆さん、本当に有難うございました。色々ご意見を参考にさせて頂きました。このぐらいかかって普通（？）かもしれませんね。特別ぼったくられていなければ、高いなって思う程度で別にもったいないなとは思いませんので少しは楽です。仕事頑張ろっと。
