I agree with Dragon.
It may or may not be parental ego. Most of the English/Japanese bilinguals around me say, "It was hard when I was a kid, but now I appreciate it." Most of them say, "I had a hard time when I was a child, but now I appreciate it.
As someone who struggles with languages, I envy children of parents like you.
(My father was fluent in English, but he never taught me, nor did he have the environment to do so. )
I am an adult and only work on my own ！.

With Japan's national strength declining worldwide, being able to speak Japanese in the U.S. nowadays is of no benefit, nor is it a way to get a good job and earn money.
If you are able to speak Japanese, you will be reduced to a mere interpreter of convenience instead of a job that takes advantage of your abilities and skills.

It would be better for the children to spend the time they are forced to learn Japanese by their parents' egos on what they are interested in and what they are good at.

We watched the American version of DVDs and TV at home, but our conversation was in Japanese.

One of my two daughters had to go to ESL because she was behind in English, but she gradually caught up and went to graduate school without any problems in English and is now working and employed.

The other daughter was very social and made many friends quickly and had no problems with her English.

She also attended a Japanese language school until early elementary school, but gave up halfway through due to the amount of homework she had to do and her academic ability that she could not keep up with.

Even so, I am glad I taught her Japanese because she has no problems with conversation and enjoys talking with her grandparents and cousins in Japan.

I still speak Japanese at home and my sisters also speak Japanese.

If you return to Japan and go back to Japanese school, it is necessary to focus on Japanese, but if you live in Japan permanently, it would be better if you can speak Japanese ？.
