"Osaifu-Keitai" refers to a payment method using Felica. Osaifu-Keitai" includes Rakuten Edy, Seven's nanaco, and Docomo's iD. All of them offer rewards such as points, so I have the impression that there are many users in Japan.

Felica is a type of NFC standard, a communication standard.
The difference between Type A/B and F is the communication speed, Type A/B is 424kbps while Type F is 848kbps, twice as fast.

For contactless payment,

Then why are Apple Pay and Google Pay so popular in Japan?
That is because Apple Pay and Google Pay in Japan are currently settled via Felica such as iD in order to let them settle with Type F because the cash registers are not compatible with Type A/B. Apple Pay and Google Pay in Japan have the same name as their overseas counterparts, but the reality is that they are not the same. This is the reason why Google Pay and Apple Pay cannot be used in Japan.

By the way, Japanese cash registers have recently started to support Type A/B, and some stores are beginning to accept Type A/B payments.
If the cash registers support Type A/B, the above three conditions will be met, and Google Pay and Apple Pay will be available in Japan.
