No, the 90 km figure is a sum total, and next time I will calculate how many km I will walk from where I finished this time, which will depend on how many days Ka-chan will be on my way to Japan. I have not calculated the detailed distance yet, but roughly speaking, it would be about 120 km from JR Kochi Station to Nakamura Station in Shimanto City, and 230 km to Sukumo Station at the westernmost point of Kochi Prefecture.

From the next time, the distance between the temples will be longer: from No. 36 Seiryuji Temple to No. 37 Iwamotoji Temple is about 60 km, and the next temple, No. 38 Kongofukuji Temple at the southernmost tip of Cape Ashizuri, is a whopping 95 km. It is a full 3 days and 2 nights.

However, from Nakamura Station, we will take the eastern route of Cape Ashizuri and hit Kongofukuji Temple 38, and on our third visit to Cape Ashizuri, we want to go to Otsuki Shrine on the western side of the peninsula. If we take the safe route and walk 24 km a day, it will take about 10 days.

There are 88 temples in Kochi Prefecture (Tosa no Kuni), so

The reason why the railroad station is the last stop is because within Kochi Prefecture, you have to take a plane from Kochi Airport because you are going back to Tokyo. You don't seem to understand anything about the 88 temples of Shikoku.

The 88 temples are not usually called Christian "churches".


Each temple is called

temple

temple

bidding place

sacred place

etc.

Also, each temple does not give a "sermon" to each pilgrim who comes to visit. It is rare to even see a priest or monk. I have visited 88 temples twice, and only once, in the spring of 2016, when I stayed at Senyuji Temple's Tsuyodo (see online) on the second leg of my second pilgrimage, I was grateful to hear the priest's Dharma talk the next morning.

All pilgrims, when they visit a sacred site, burn Gotoumyo (candles) and incense in the main hall and Daishi Hall, and chant the following doctrines according to the "Buddhist Preaching Instructions".
