If a policeman catches you, you get an automatic ticket.


As I recall, you can only drive for 14 days with a license plate from another state.

The registration address of my car is now in Chicago office
So I am planning to get it safely by paying and having the sticker sent to me forwarded to me.

I didn't think about Emission test. It is a 2019 model so there was none last year.

First of all, where is your place of residence? If you have an address in Illinois, and that is where you will be living, then you can stay there. If it is less expensive to do so.
However, there is a definition of residence. If you reside in California, your car should be registered in California.
The easiest answer is what state is your TAX ？ If I remember correctly, if you reside in California for more than 3 consecutive months, you should register in California.
The most important thing is whether you have an address in Illinois. Also, do you want to apply for TAX with that as your place of residence?
