アメリカの口座から日本の外貨口座へ送金するのに一番安い方法を検索していたら、CitibankのGlobal Transferというサービスを使えば海外送金が無料で出来るということが分かりました。条件は送金元も受取人もCitibankに口座を持っていること（一番ベーシックな口座でもいいようです）。ちなみにアメリカのCitibankから日本の他行への送金をオンラインですると$30の手数料が発生するようです。海外送金の手数料が無料というのは今まで聞いたことがなかったので（私が調べきれてないだけかもしれませんが）、こんなサービスがあるとはびっくりでした。このサービスを使って日本へ海外送金されたことがある方いらっしゃいますか?ご感想は?昨年両親から家購入の頭金資金として２万ドルほど融通してもらったので、毎月$1,000ずつ20か月かけて返金していく予定で、その場合この無料サービスを使えばとっても便利だなと思った次第です。不都合な利用規約とかが隠れていないといいのですが…。使われたことがある方、ご感想お聞かせいただければ幸いです。

ご両親にちゃんと返済していくなんて甘えてなくてちゃんと育てられた証拠ですね。
アメリカ来てからずっと生活費の一部を子供のバレエの遠征旅費まで親にもらってるバカもいるのに。
そんな分不相応の見栄をはったり夢を見ても仕方がないと思うんですけどねぇ～。

マチコさん、コメントありがとうございます。Wire時にCGTオプションを選択して送金すればCGT扱いになるのですね。ただ、どこかのネットで見た情報だとCGT扱いは相手国の通貨での送金（つまり円建て送金）に限るって書いてあった気がしたので、そうだとすると、レート?さんのご指定の通り、不利になる場合もありますよね。その後、近所のCitibankに詳細を聞きに言ったのですが、よく分からないと言われてしまいました（笑）。なので、今度はちゃんとWire部門の人に聞いてみようと思います。ドル建てのまま送金出来れば一番いいのですが。
