They are experimenting with using AI to control traffic.
It would be nice if it would reduce traffic congestion.

Replacing a car

Question

If you are familiar with automobiles, please let me know.

My current car is a 2008 gasoline car.
Now that gas prices are getting higher and my car is getting repaired more often, I am thinking about buying a new car.
I have heard that CA will be phasing out gasoline-powered cars in the future, but do you have any recommendations for a replacement ？
（ In addition, there is an EV charger at a nearby shopping mall, but I live in an apartment so I can charge my car at home at night. I live in an apartment, so I can't charge my car at home at night. ）
I would also like to do Uber and Lyft on the side, so I am thinking that buying would be better than leasing, which has mileage restrictions.

Thank you in advance for your help.

#10 Mr. N

Thanks for the advice from the perspective of cost of ownership, insurance, etc.
I have a garage but it is open.
Prius is also a Toyota hybrid, I will consider it.

#12 Mr. Ignorant

The hydrogen car is Mirai, right?
I'm very interested in it as a car, but I'm not sure it would be suitable for Uber because of the lack of chargers.

Uber and Lyft are going to increase mileage by half and maintenance and repair costs are going to be ridiculous,
they are going to be replaced every 2 years,
the probability of getting into an accident or getting a ticket is high,
and then insurance rates are going to skyrocket...

I heard that Uber car insurance is only available from the time the job is contracted
to the time it is terminated.

If you don't have personal vehicle insurance and leave the Uber app on
and have an accident, you will be uninsured.

I would appreciate it if I could turn on the app and use it for personal use
and still have Uber insurance in case of an accident.

I've been going around to dealers to buy a new car since last week, but all the dealers have zero new cars in stock and are empty-handed.
They say it's because they can't assemble new cars due to the shortage of semiconductors.
Japan was the only country in the world that was able to secure semiconductors despite the Corona disaster due to the lessons learned from the Great Kanto Earthquake, but a fire caused by a hacker attack on Japan's largest semiconductor plant has stopped the supply of semiconductors in Japan, and Japanese manufacturers have suffered a major blow.
How far can the Japanese people's brains be in a peaceful flower garden when their long-cultivated steel technology has been stolen by South Korea, their bullet trains and linear motor cars have been stolen intact by China, and their vulnerable semiconductor plants have been attacked by hackers? In comparison, Tesla has a large selection of new cars, has secured semiconductors, and this year is hitting record sales numbers.

＃ I've been going around to dealers all over the place trying to buy a new car for the last week, but every dealer has zero new cars in stock and I'm a nobody.

If Tesla has a large selection of new cars,
I would have to go with Tesla for my new car.

It's a convenient time, isn't it?
Ichihara City was the first city in Japan to introduce this system.

It is convenient to fill out the preliminary medical checkup sheet for vaccination.
