日本から来た家族が、日本製の炊飯器から、はてはプレステ２やドライヤーもお土産にもらいました。が、電圧が違う為に、このままでは使えないんですか？特に、プレステ２はＦＦ12と一緒に貰ったので、今すぐにでもプレイしたいのですが、壊れたらどーしとうと、怖くてしてません。こっちのゲーム屋さんで、日本製のゲーム機本体が売ってますが、あれって、アメリカでプレイするのに改造されてたりするんですか？プレイするのに何が必要なのか変わるかたおられたら、教えてくださいー。お願いします！

プレステ２は変圧器を使った方がいいですよ〜。うちはそうしてます。あーいう精密機械はつぶれる可能性があると思うのでね。こっちのお店の人も使った方がいいよ、って言ってました。
使ってないけど平気〜という人もいるかとは思いますけどね。
ドライヤーも炊飯器も１００−２４０Ｖと書いてあるなら変圧器はいらないよ。日本は１００だよね、アメリカは１２０だから。
ゲーム用に変圧器が欲しいなら、トーランスとＷｅｓｔＬＡにある日本のゲームを扱っているお店があるので、そこでも扱っていたと思います。多分親切に教えてくれると思いますよ。または、ターゲットとかでも買えると思います。

電熱を利用していない電子機器でここ１０年以内に作られたものであれば、変圧器で正確に電圧を合わさなくても使えるチャンスは大です。ただ数時間オンで使ってみて、その時点でケースをさわりぬるい程度の温度なら行けます。それがさわっていられないほど熱くなっていれば危険でしょう。
しかし炊飯器やヘアードライヤーなどは電熱を利用した機器なので、１００Vのものを１２０Vで使うと温度コントロールが誤作動を起こすだろうし、電圧が高い分温度も上がります。ですので、変圧器は必須だと思います。
その前に危険かどうかを論ずる場合、日系のお店で売っている変圧器はアメリカの安全規格 UL を通っていません。そもそも電源電圧を変更するような機器は、扱いを間違えると大変なことになるので、Consumer Appliances になれないのです。ですから普通のアメリカのお店では売られてないはずです。
