the beautiful ocean is right next to me,
I can get to know pleasant locals,
the climate is stable, and
it suits me.
It is also good that Japanese foods are easily available.
I also enjoy learning about the history of Hawaiians, Nikkei, and immigrants.

I haven't been back home for a few years, so this may not be much help. when I returned in 2015, I used a Telecom Square voice SIM, which was cheaper because ANA offered free per day usage. when I checked on the web, I found that a lot has changed in Corona. I checked on the web and it seems to have changed a lot in Corona. Nowadays, there are docomo and Softbank for voice SIM （ that gives you a Japanese mobile number ）, but Softbank seems to be a good choice for short term. Prepaid SIMs sold on Amazon and other places are usually data-only, so unless you use LINE or Skype to make calls, it may be a hassle to call people in Japan.
