I had the same thing happen to me before. I heard that it is better to store in an airtight container in the refrigerator as soon as the package is opened, because the insects can easily make holes in hard paper, plastic, etc., and get in. Even if the package is unopened, it may already contain insects or eggs, so I don't buy any more. I regularly check the kitchen area as it can cause allergies. Spices and other items should also be closed tightly, otherwise insects can enter.
