長いアメリカ生活のなかで、いかにも日本人らしいオカシイ英語をたくさん見たり聞いたりしてきました。
ALOEをAROEだと思っている人や、BUD LIGHTをBUD RIGHT,SPRITEをSPLITE,MATERIALを
MATEREAL、と書く人など。
ドジャース・スタジアムや、ヤンキース・スタジアムなどと誤って認識している人も多いですね（笑）。
ドジャー・スタジアム、ヤンキー・スタジアムなのに・・・。
ROSECRANSをローズクランスと言う日本人もとても多いけど、正しくは”ローズクラン”です。最後のSは、読まないものなんです。
みなさんのそんな経験を聞かせてください。

ピーマンはフランス語の piment ﾋﾟﾏﾝ が日本でなまったそうです。
さらに瓶のことをネットで調べると、
ガラスびん類のスペイン語は botellas de vidrio
時代劇に出てくる「ビードロ」は、ガラスを意味するポルトガル語 vidro
vine はブドウの木、英語でも使われる vineyard ｳﾞｨﾝﾔｰﾄﾞはブドウ園
だそうです。私もこれでひとつ賢くなりました。

意味は違うと思いますが、BINは英語でも時々使いますよ。
RECYCLE BINやTRASH BINとして。
まぁ、ボトル＝BINはやはりフレンチですね。。。多分ですがＷ
僕はフレンチは知りませんので、間違ってるかもしれませんが。。

Recycle Bin の Bin は Container の意のが強いと思います。
ワインの瓶を Bin と呼ぶのはちょっと無理があるかも。
倉庫なんかで Bin Number と言う言葉をよく使いますが、この Bin は大きめな箱を意味します。
