I returned from Japan yesterday.

First of all, ANA's LAX - HND late night flight was full on the way there and I felt very cramped, but the return flight was a "gara ・ gara" and the difference is expressed as "what the hell, this is it".

I had flown on a B777 on the way there several times, but this was my first time on a B787 on the way back, and the cabin was comfortable, with muffled cabin, adjustable cabin humidity, and lots of empty seats. I wonder why there is such a big difference in the way the seats are filled on the way to and from the airport.

On the My SOS app, which you have to prepare for, I was given a "red" even though I had filled in my vaccination count, passport information, etc. correctly, and was made to walk a full lap around the Terminal 3 building upon arrival. I was made to walk around the terminal 3 building on arrival. I enjoy walking, so I can walk a few kilometers, but to be made to walk such a long distance while carrying carry-on luggage after not getting a good night's sleep on a late-night flight is nothing but "corporal punishment. I hear that that My SOS app inspection is going away soon. I don't know what other airports are using the inspection system, but keep in mind that Haneda has it.

Oh, did I say that? I don't remember this either, it's a blur. In reality, I left home for LAX on the evening of October 19, and left for HND on ANA NH105 at 00:50 on 10/20/22, the day after the day changed.

This flight arrived at HND at about 04:45 JST on 10/21/22. I could go to Tokushima that morning, but in order to get used to the time difference, I stayed one night in a spacious hut room capsule hotel near Keikyu Kamata, which was a bit larger than a typical capsule hotel, with a floor wide enough for me to spread my hands horizontally and touch my fingertips to the floor next to the bed, and a small desk and chair.

As it turned out, my stay in Shikoku was shortened from 10 nights and 11 days to 8 nights and 9 days because my wife decided to come to Japan halfway through the trip, and we spent the second half hanging out in Tokyo. Both my wife and I were able to reunite with old friends from elementary ・ junior high school, and we made sure that we would not have any regrets when the rest of the trip was over. Having said that, I plan to walk the same distance next year as I did this time. I will calculate the distance I walked this time later.

on your unusual Shikoku pilgrimage of 260 kilometers in 10 days?

This walking pilgrimage ended up covering about 170 km over seven nights and eight days, but we only walked all day for seven days, so on average we walked about 24 km per day. There are two temples at 150m altitude and one at 400m altitude along the way.

Unlike early in the morning, walking at night with tired legs and toddling along the dark road was very discouraging. This is the moment when walking pilgrimage is not "fun.

I had never walked until it was so dark, and I felt that it was better to walk the pilgrimage in the spring and early summer when the sun was longer.
