Japanese people who live in Hawaii have a more Japanese-like dislike than Japanese people in Japan. They are nice on top of things, but behind their backs they put down people who are a little bit different and so on. It's America, so it's natural that there are all kinds of people, but they hate you just for doing something a little different from the average Japanese person. They are also very hard on Japanese people who have been steeped in America.
