Jet airliners normally perform reverse thrust to shorten the runway distance during a normal landing. If they did, the plane would veer off to the side.

The Trans-Siberian Railway, which I wanted to ride the entire line at least once.

With a total length of 9,297 km, it is the longest railroad in the world. I heard that "third class seats" as they call it in Japan have no wall or door on one side, and various races sit and sleep in one room again. I heard that if you take this trip in the middle of winter, you can enjoy the harshness of Siberia the most.

However, as I am getting older, it is getting harder and harder to have such an adventure. Sad to say.


Instead, I took a one-week Japan Rail Road Pass ticket from Tokyo to Wakkanai Station in Hokkaido, the northernmost point of Japan. Then turn back and cross Honshu ・ Kyushu to Makurazaki Station on the Ibusuki-makurazaki Line, the southernmost point of JR Japan, return right out of the ticket gates, turn back and go to Tokyo Station.

I guess this is doable for the "old man".

JR's southernmost station is Nishi-Oyama Station.
