I was hoping to get your comments on collecting miles to use for award tickets between Hawaii and Japan.
I would like to hear about your favorite company, how you collect miles, etc. I myself am currently collecting miles with Delta Air Lines Amex Gold, but I am considering doing so after I have used up all my current miles on award tickets.
The reasons for this are
- Delta's Amex Gold annual fee will be $ 100 => $ 150 （ $10,000 spend bonus will increase to $ 100 => $ 200 and new hotel credit $ 100, which is not bad in general ）.
- I plan to use my BILT MasterCard to pay rent and accumulate points, but the airlines I can transfer points to are Hawaiian, United, and American Airline in the US.
- My destination is Nagoya, so I will be flying Delta to Haneda ＞ Shinkansen to Nagoya is a bit inconvenient in terms of time ・ and money. On the other hand, it is possible to fly to Nagoya with JAL/Hawaiian.

Note that the mileage requirement for a Delta Honolulu Haneda award ticket is roughly 94,000 - 104,0000 miles in Main Cabin economy.
The credit card award gives you 15% off the required miles, so it's actually 80,000 - 88,000 miles.

Of course, I understand that your destination, class of service, and usual mileage accrual are not the same, but
