I have a question for those who have had a name change, such as registering in the US, or have had similar experiences with SSN, DMV.

I was in the US on OPT which expires 2/29/2024 and I married a US citizen in the US in November 2023. I am currently in the pending period of obtaining a green card.

Since I am on OPT, my driver's license will also expire on 2/29 tied to that, so I went to the DMV with the I-797c I received in the green card application process and the EAD for my life until 2/29, hoping to get my license before it expires.
They accepted those two as documents for renewal of my license, but to my foolishness, I had forgotten to change my SSN name and was told that I could not renew because my name in the system was still my maiden name.
(I-797c was issued with my new last name. )

I panicked and went to the Social Security office to try to change my name, but was told, "Your current EAD until 2/29 has too little validity left to change your name." They also did not accept my I-797c and Marriage Certificate.

I tried to apply for AB60 because I need a car to live without, but one DMV said, "No, because it's a pending green card period and you don't qualify as someone who can apply in the first place." Another DMV said "I-797c can't do it, you need to bring your I-797" etc. I am confused.

Long story short, my question is
・ Is there any way to get a license under these circumstances?
・ Once the I-797 arrives, can I use it to rename my SSN ？ Has anyone had such an experience ？ Will I have to wait endlessly for the new EAD to arrive … tears
