I am married to an American husband and am currently preparing to apply for a Green Card. The application fee has changed drastically since April of this year and the cost of the I-131 is over $600.00. We are trying to save money by preparing the application documents ourselves without an attorney. We have heard from our research that even if you have an I-131, you will be sent to a different room at immigration, and that it is not a guarantee of entry.
I can hold off on returning to Japan until I receive my Green Card, but one thing I am worried about is that if something happens to my family, I will not be able to return home.
