I am planning to switch to Global Entry when my TSA Pre expires at the end of this year.

Since Japanese people are able to obtain Global Entry within Japan, I hope that at least Narita, Haneda, and Kansai Airports will have Global Entry facilities. Once this Corona pandemic is completely over, we will see an avalanche of foreign tourists again, and long lines at the immigration counters at the airports. It may be an hour or two flight for those from neighboring countries, but we arrive at Narita or other airports after sitting in cramped seats for almost half a day, so it will be hell to have to stand and wait for almost an hour again.

What I said in #2379 has nothing to do with permanent resident holders.

Permanent residents are Japanese citizens, so of course they will be in line with Japanese nationals at immigration. If two or three flights arrive at the same time, there will be a similar large line at both checkpoints. But while we foreigners have to wait over an hour at the back of the line, the Japanese line is empty in less than 15 minutes. At that moment, or rather, only at that moment, I felt it was better to be Japanese.

I am thinking of applying for TSA PreCheck/Global Entry. Based on Ggrks' opinion, the US CBP website and YouTube, I am also thinking of applying for Global Entry this time.

My TSA PreCheck is due at the end of this year, but according to recent rumors, it may take 6 months or more to get Global Entry. I went to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website and started the procedure.
