I don't know how often you enter Japan with a Japanese passport, but
my local government office did not check how long I had been in the US or my status,
I showed them my passport stamp saying I had recently returned to Japan. I showed them that I had recently returned to Japan, showed them the stamp in my passport, applied for a new resident registration, and the next day I applied for a passport
and a week later I got a 10-year passport.
By the way, I had entered Japan with my American passport several times, so I think it had been about 8 years since my departure date from Japan on my Japanese passport. Nothing is sweet.
