先日、LAの日系スーパーに行った時、
製造国の表記の無いお米が大量に売ってました。
しかし、そのお米がパッケージされたのは
トーランスとの表記がありました。
震災後の日本のお米が
出回っている可能性はあるのでしょうか?

サクラメントバレーには見渡す限りの水田がありますよ。 畔の無いだだっ広い水田でヘリで農薬散布をしています。 ここからナパに運んで酒とかみりんとかも作っています。

"カリフォルニア米は水田で作る（水稲）んじゃないんだよ、陸稲（りくとう）なの。
早い話、小麦やトウモロコシのように畑で作っているんです。
だからカリフォルニアでも大量に作れる。"

大量に作れるのは農法が違うからです。 種籾は独自の方法で乾燥や浸水を施したモノでこれを圃場に水を張っておいて飛行機で播種するんです。 除草はヘリコ、刈り取りはトラクターです。 脱穀・精米はコンピューター管理だと聞いています。相当近代化したようですがマーケットから我が家ののクローゼットに運ぶのはいまだに私の腕力です。
