Vivinavi Los Angeles英語喋れる人の割合

日本人以外の人によく「日本に住んでる日本人はどのくらいの人が英語喋れるの？」と聞かれます。
私はいつも「日本に住んでいる人は大抵喋れないよ。あんまり必要にかられないからね。喋れる人はレアに近いかも」と答えるのですが、果たしてどうなのでしょうか。
いつも答えた後にどうだろうなぁと考えてしまいます。そして驚かれるのでちょっと恥ずかしい気持ちになります。
１０人にひとり位は喋れるのかなぁ？
それとも３０人にひとりかなぁ。
それ以下かもしれないですよね。
皆さんはこう聞かれた時どのように答えますか？

「喋れません・・・けど書けるし、読めます」って答えてます。そのあとで、どうやって勉強してきたか話すと、納得してくれます。
バイトしてた頃に海兵隊の客から「どうしてお前らは書くんだ？なぜ口で言わない？！」って文句言われたことあるから、全国的にそんなもんだと思います。
