If you work less than 40 hours per week or less than WBA, you should always file because unemployment insurance will be paid.

If your only purpose is to keep your UI account active, you should continue filing weekly even if you work more than 40 hours per week or WBA. The UI office system will display "Disqualified" immediately without waiting for a labor report from the employer, but you can keep your UI account active.

But there is a concern. The unemployment insurance help team told me that in the first half of last year there were many cases where UI accounts were automatically suspended if they were not touched for several months, but now they are not seeing any such cases at all. I certainly have not seen any such cases recently. I think that maybe the UI system has been upgraded and no longer stops automatically. But only the UI office can tell if that is true.

Back on topic, filing weekly may be a hassle, but I think it would be safer in the long run to continue filing weekly until Hawaii reopens in earnest and the employer makes a final decision that there will be no suspension or dissolution.

You will be Disqualified if you are either one of these, and the reason for being Disqualified will appear in the Details section as follows.

If you received labor income in excess of your WBA:
REPORTED EARNINGS OF $ ●● IS GREATER THAN YOUR WEEKLY BENEFIT AMOUNT OF $ ●●.

WORKED MORE THAN 40 HOURS WEEKLY:
WORKED 40 HOURS OR MORE

In other words, if you worked less than 40 hours per week but more than your WBA, you are disqualified. Also, if you earn less than your WBA but work more than 40 hours per week, you will be disqualified.

after entering the hours worked, I was asked if I had a new job, and I answered yes, and then
I was asked to enter the name and phone number of the company. I was asked to enter the company name and phone number.
I knew for sure that it was a layoff application.
I went ahead and filed it as is
I stopped halfway through because I didn't know if I would have to
Reactivate it after tomorrow in the same vein as in #170,#171, and I haven't filed it yet.

Just for the record.

In past topics （ last spring ）, those who made the mistake of entering the status of "fully terminated" or "temporarily terminated" on the Initial Application immediately contacted the UI Office within 3 months.

The response from the UI Office at that time was one of the following.
● Direct correction
● Reactivate a Claim application to change status

Since it is rare to change status after one year, it is possible that there is no one who would share this on this topic. Also, with the upgrade of the UI system, the advice from the call center has changed a little compared to last year.

The safest course of action is to check with the call center for the latest method.
