休暇を利用してニュージーランドでホームステイをするつもりですが，日本からのお土産はどんな物が良いでしょう？以前アメリカでホームステイした時は地元名産の焼き物の急須セットを持って行きました．でも，日本伝統のお土産ってホストは飽きてると思うんです．文具とか手作りの物ってお土産にはならないでしょうか？

日本人相手にホームステイ業をしてる家は確かに日本の伝統品で溢れかえっていたりする。だから渋谷のロフトでちょっと気の利いたモノを買ってプレゼントしたけど、「その袋は何だ？みんなそれに入れて持ってくる」と言われた。いっそのこと、何もあげないってのはどうだ？日本人だけじゃないかな、おみやげ持ってくるの。

私もニュージーランドにファームステイしに行った時、東急ハンズで買った物をお土産として持って行きましたが、お土産そのものよりもハンズの例のラッピングバッグに興味を持ったようでした（笑）。
ランチバッグに使うと喜んでましたね。

NZですか！なつかしい♪僕もNZのInvercargill？に留学した経験があります（＾＾。お土産は、僕の場合日本でちょっとした鞄など買っていきました。向こうでも買えると思うんですが、何気に喜んでくれたのでよかったです。やっぱり使える物が喜んでもらえるのでは？？

私もうさぎさんの考えに同感でずっとホストをしてきた家族は伝統的な物よりもちょっと日本的な物の方が喜ぶとおもいます。もし子供がいる家などはキャラクターのコップ付きの歯ブラシセットとかぼこぼこしたシールとかはどうでしょう？日本には小さくてこだわった物が多いと思くこういう物は他の国にはあまりないのでは？他には贈り物用のフルーツゼリーはきれいで誰にでも食べやすく喜ばれました。これらはアメリカにあまりないものなのでNZの事はわかりませんが、参考まで。
