I asked my lawyer to renew my green card.

When I asked my lawyer, the renewal application was not online but by mailing documents to USCIS.

The current address on the application is my own address, but the mailing address is the attorney's office, so the receipt number and fingerprinting notice will be sent to the attorney's office.
My attorney will contact me to let me know when it arrives.

The renewed green card will also be delivered to the attorney's office, and they will mail it to your home by EMS when it arrives.
Or you can go to the attorney's office to pick it up.

(You can check the progress from the USCIS website with the receipt number. )

It may vary depending on the attorney you ask, but that was my experience in my case.

With this current corona disaster, it may take even longer if the renewal application is mailed, so you may want to ask if it is possible to apply for renewal online even when going through a lawyer ？.

I updated online in Feb.
I translated words I didn't understand as I went along.
Appointment for fingerprinting etc. seems to take 6 months now because of the Corona disaster, and the date has not been decided yet. You can also check the current status by logging in yourself.

I applied by mail to USCIS on 12/26/2020.
I did it myself, without an attorney.

The process to get the card was almost the same as #3 Yacht, but I did everything by myself without an attorney.
It took more than a month to receive the receipt notice, but I was able to check the status on the USCIS website after receiving it.
At first, I was told that it would take 5 months to get my fingerprints taken （ Next step ） But after a while, I was told "No fingerprints taken, you can use your previous one"
As a result, I received my new green card in the mail at the end of March. No fingerprinting, but no refund of the "fingerprinting fee" paid at the time of application.

According to the USCIS website information, due to the Corona disaster, the renewal process is taking a lot of time, so
a statement has been added to the receipt noteice from January 2021, stating "During the renewal process, the green card you are currently holding will expire one year after expiration. I have a receipt note for my case. In my case, I received two receipt notices, the first one was the normal one and the second one included the above extension.
