日本の免許の更新をしないといけないのですが、今現在、アメリカにいるし、学校もあるので、日本に帰って更新出来ないのですが、どうすれば良いのでしょう．．．

１年以内に行けばいいぜ。期限からな。そのかわりアメリカにいたっていう証拠と日本にいる人に署名をしてもらえば大丈夫だな。

私もアメリカに居て、免許の更新の時期を過ぎています。
結局、何が必要なんだろう。
私も一応日本に帰った際、更新は出来るとは知ってはいるのですが・・・
ホームページ見てもいまいち分からない。

更新用のハガキにビザ付のパスポートと住民票（移してなけりゃ家族に住所書いてもらえば（何の紙でもいい）できる。古い免許の住所でよけりゃそのままできちまう。３０分ほどの講習だけで（優秀なら）。

私も同じように更新したくても帰れずに、免許が切れてからもうしばらくたちます。最寄の警察の交通課に聞けば、何が必要か詳しく教えてくれると思います。ウェブサイトなどあると思うので、免許を最初に申請した免許センターみたいなところに問い合わせてみるといいです。都道府県によって微妙に規約が違ってたりしますので。うちの場合は、一年以内に更新しに行けば、一日講習（違反者と同扱い）を受ければ更新できるって言われました。そのときにやはり、上の方たちも言っているように、国外に居たことの証明になるもの（パスポートとか）は必要です。参考になればと思いますが。
