以前日本からの友人が、ベイエリアの大学で、まず英語クラスを半年間とり、規定の成績を修められれば、TOEFLスコアがなくても大学に入学できるというカリキュラムをとっていました。（もちろん、その英語クラスでTOEFLの模擬試験等はあると思われますが）
その後大学に入学し、4年間で立派に卒業しました。
サウスベイ近辺のコミュニティカレッジでもそのようなカリキュラム、プログラムはあるでしょうか?
経済的な事情で私立より公立の大学でと思っているのですが。
どなたかご存知の方、よろしくお願いします。

コミュカレとはいえ、2-3倍ってそんな破格なとこあんのか?
LACCDのコミュカレは大体1 unit辺り$30位だったと思うが、州外等はそれ+$200強掛かるから、およそ10倍掛かるよ。

カリフォルニアのコミュニティーカレッジにはそのようなプログラムは存在しません。
英語に関してはアメリカ人でさえも必ず１年生レベルの英語のクラス対応の能力があるかテスト（プレイスメントテスト）を受けなければなりません。もしテストで力がないという結果が出るとそのレベルに達するまで、外国人でもアメリカ人でもそれ以前のレベルの低い英語クラスをパスしなければ上に進めません。あまりにも英語の力が弱いと正規単位の英語クラスに入れるまで、いくつかの基礎英語のクラスを取らなければならないので大変です。実はアメリカ人でも英語（＝彼らの国語）のクラスにかなり苦闘する人は多いのです。
私立はそれぞれ独自のシステムがあるのでお友達のような例も学校によっては可能かと思います。

そーだろーな。たとえば軽捨の一例だと、住民なら１年$4884のところ外人は$32000。たかが公立に３万ドル以上も払う価値ねーよなー。日本の国立にしとけ。
