アメリカ人の人が私にありがとうという時、
よく手を合わせて軽くお辞儀をしながらthank youといいます
アジア人が手を合わせてお辞儀をするという概念があるからなのか
日本人は手を合わせないので、いつも不思議な感じがします
手を合わせてお辞儀をしながらありがとうという文化は本当はどこの国のものなんでしょうか?

タイの文化だったんですね。
でもとっぽさんやマンザーナさんの言う通り、周りの仏教国でも同じように挨拶するところもあるかもしれないですね。

THAI, INDIA, SINGAPOREの人達で見たような、自然的なので
余り気にもとめてませんでしたね、テレビなのでアメリカ人でも手を合わせる人何回か見たことはあります。
日本だとよくいただきますの時、ドラマなんかで手をあわせてる場面を見かけるけど、後は少林寺の人達が手を合わせてる姿以前見たかな、たしかに日本人が手をあわせるときはお葬式とか おがまれてるようで気持ち的には へんな気持ちになるかも あくまで個人的な意見です。

南方の女性が両手を合わせて、ひざを少し曲げて会釈するのって、なんかかわいらしい感じ。
日本人でも、ありがとう！って手を合わせる人結構いますよ。
ひざ曲げないけど。
いただきます！って食事のときもするよね。

まぁ、話はちょっとズレるんだけど、
日本人でも、相手にお願いをするときに手を合わせることがある気がする。
「お願い～！」
ってとき。
英語のThank youには「お願いします」っていう使われ方もあるから、
無理やり解釈するなら、日本人でもアリかも。
ま、普通に感謝の意で使う際ではないけど。
