どうして西海岸の方は洗濯物を外に干さないのでしょうか？
電力不足とか言われているのに・・。
東海岸の方は外に干す方も多いと聞いたのですが本当でしょうか？

どうしてでしょうねぇ。やはり美観が損なわれるからではないでしょうか。日本でも高級マンションやアパートでは美観の観点からベランダに干し物を干すのは禁止されていますよね。
あと外で干すのは非常に手間ですよね。こっちの人は不精なので洗濯した後、隣の乾燥機にぶっこんでダイアルをガラガラと回せば、ハイ、ＯＫ、となるのでそちらの方を選ぶんじゃないですか。干すタイミング、取り込むタイミングを気にしないでいいし、天候にも左右されないし。
私の知り合いで洗濯物は外で干すほうが健康的とか言って外で干している人がいます。でも外の道から見えない裏庭で干しています。
