There used to be vendors who would do it for you, but now even Mexican companies don't do it very often because of the stricter penalties and such if they are found out. It is too risky to be shut down for just $100 or so.

I bought a stock OEM bolt-on catalyst from a dealer for 130 I bought it from the dealer for $130.00 and installed it myself.
I went to a muffler shop and they said no aftermarket parts, only OEM.

I don't know much about it, but I'm writing this: 。。。。 My car is a Toyota Prius.
The reason why the smog check did not pass was that there was a problem with the catalytic-converter.

It seems that catalytic-converters can be sold for a very high price for the parts used in them, and that's why the theft of those parts has increased recently. He said that a while ago it was thefts from trucks and such, but recently Prius thefts have been increasing. If the smog check does not pass and the muffler has a stock catalytic-converter, the muffler will be repaired for $300. If it has a non-genuine one, someone said they would repair it for $650. I had been quoted $2 ～ 3,000 at several places because only genuine parts would work. 。。。。

The person works as a mechanic during the week and takes on private repairs at home on the weekends.
He said he would refund my money if the smog check didn't pass and he would issue a receipt
so I trusted him and asked him to do it.
They also issued a receipt. It is still running smoothly.

I had mine fixed at a repair shop for $ 500. The repair was to cut out the old catalytic converter and put in a new one. Since it is an older car, I don't think there is any need to be concerned about expensive OEM parts.

There are many more possibilities, such as a transmission failure DTC that causes the MIL to light up and not pass a smog test, etc. There are so many possibilities ？.
