ビザの方はまだ切れてないんですが
学校には半年ぐらいいっておらず
i-20 が無い場合
不法滞在になるんでしょうか？
また学校にはもう戻れないんでしょうか？

ビザがあってもI-２０がなければ、F-１ビザは無効です。つまり不法滞在になりますよね。
でも学校に戻れるかどうかは分かりません。
あんまり役にたてなくてごめんなさい。

確か以前学校の事務を手伝ってた友人がいってたことによると、元の学校にはもう戻ることは語学学校の場合はできないということと、Ｉ−２０が完全に切れてから２ヶ月以内じゃないと、古い学校と新しい学校間での転校手続きもできないのだそう。
なので日本に一度帰国して再度申請ということになりますが、半年くらい違法状態なので３年間くらいは入国できないですよね。この辺りはよくわからないのですが、弁護士のアドバイスが必要でしょう。

ｱﾀｼも以前学校が始まってすぐ辞めてしまいパインさんと同じ状況になりました。そして、日本に帰国予定だったのでアドバイザーにどのぐらいならUSに滞在できるか聞いたところI-20無しの人の場合90日までなら不法滞在とはみなされないと言っていました。多分90日だったような気がしますが…曖昧でごめんなさい。

参考になるかどうかわかりませんが。
私と同じ学校で東南アジアの某国からきた友人は、F1-Visaで入国し3年間不法就労した後学校に入学していました。もうVisaはっとくに切れていますがI-20はあるみたいです。
アメリカに滞在し、もう自分の国には戻らないと言っていました。

学校をやめたらどちらにしろ帰国する事をお勧めします。
半年も学校にいっていないのなら学校に戻れないんじゃないですか？語学コースならお金払えばなんとかなるだろけど、Udergraduateで理由なく休んでいるのだったら退学になってるはずだよね？
