It is "free for the first year" with the expectation that the other party will maintain the account for more than two years, so if you must cancel within one year You will have to pay the annual fee. That should be written in the fine print as well.

Also, Delta requires a rather large "number of miles x amount" fee to transfer your miles to anyone, regardless of whether they are family or not.

ANA charges no fee if you have a family member registered as a family member. I said in #686 that it is difficult for family members, but once when my wife was going to Japan, the number of miles she could get from the referral was 50,000 miles as an example, so I had her refer and create an account, and then I added my miles to the missing amount to get her to go to Japan. I paid a commission and added my miles to the account.

It is indeed a waste of money. At first it was $90, which is $7.5 a month. But now I think it was $110. I don't even remember that, so I'm a bit of a goofball. And yet, what am I, who am trying so hard to make JAL's return flight via KIX cheaper? ^^;

And since I use Auto Pay, which automatically deducts the monthly bill, my sense of loss is dulled.
