I thought that the price of 2,900 yen per night had suddenly gone up to 4,500 yen per night, and other hotels might be following suit, so I made a hasty decision as usual.

If you go to www.hostelworld.com and enter "asakusa", you can find hostels for around $25 ～ 30. However, the quality of hostels in this class varies widely, and some of the facilities and atmosphere may not be what you would expect at this price. The hostel I mentioned above has normal facilities, but the staff is friendly and the dining room, kitchen, and common room have a great atmosphere where travelers from all over the world can easily get to know each other and talk with each other. I stayed here for many years.

The cheapest price is $23/night for 8 people in a mixed dorm, not mixed, even though the JR and subway stations are right next door. The photos of the listed facilities look pretty cool, so I'm thinking of trying it out and staying there for a night.
