元ルームメイトがデポジットを返してくれません。 彼はアメリカ人で、自分が借りている３ベット２バスルームのコンドの二部屋を日本人限定で貸しています。 引っ越してから分かった事なのですが、彼は過去に一度も誰にもデポジットを返していません。 一体どしたらデポジット返して貰えるでしょうか？ 何年も住んでいて一度も掃除した事がない程家の中は汚れていて、その汚い家を全て住んでいた日本人のせいにして、デポジットを返さないのが彼のやり方です。 皆さんの知恵を貸してください。

契約書はありません、レシートしか無いです。 ベッドルームに限らず過去の家の汚れを全て貸した人達のせいにしてデポジット返さないのが常套手段のようです。 自分が住んでいる時にも過去の住人から電話がかかってきて電話しながら私の部屋に入って来て「お前はこんなに部屋を汚くして出て行ったんだ」いいながら写真を撮影してTextしていました。 日系の教会等に出入りして次のカモを探すが得意なアメリカ人です。

そのレシートと、あなたがその家に住んでいたできる限りの証拠をもとに
Small Claims courtに訴えるしか方法はありません。
証拠さえある程度揃えば、こういうデポジットのケースはだいたいトピ主の立場にある人が勝ちますよ。
部屋を汚す、なんとかはせいぜい１００ドルぐらいしか引けないです。
なので払ったデポジットからクリーニング代（１００ドルぐらい）を引いた額に訴訟の費用を足した額が返ってきます。
Small Claims Courtにファイルしただけで、あわてて返すかもですよ。
だって絶対に負けるってわかってるから、そういうやつは・・・。
がんばってまずは行動を起こしてみる、それが大事です。
