Walking Around Shikoku on Foot Only - Part 1

I'm not a "Jikkou Keisatsu" (Law Enforcement Agency) TV drama, but I walk around the 88 temples of Shikoku as a "hobby". I had heard about the "walking pilgrimage" on TV and decided to go to Shikoku with my wife.

Using the Railroad Pass, we took the Shinkansen "Hikari" at a leisurely pace from Tokyo Station to Kobe Station, then paid for a bus to Tokushima Station, where we took an express bus. She didn't seem to enjoy it at all and said "I can't do this" and came back to Tokyo on the third day.

On the contrary, I was so impressed to be able to walk through the towns and farming villages of Shikoku with my own feet, admiring the mountains, rivers, plants, and trees, which were completely different from the tourist spots where people normally live, that I started going to Shikoku the next year. However, there are certain things that are necessary for walking on a pilgrimage, and when you wear a special outfit, you will feel more comfortable and aware that you are not just walking or hiking.
