I am thinking of renting an office in Torrance, and I heard that Palos Verdes is a very nice place, a little higher up the hill from Torrance. From a local employee, I started my own business and have now moved to PV and lived there for over 5 years.
The school district is truly amazing. The educational standards are among the highest in the US. Some people say it's inconvenient, but
everything is within a 30 minute drive to places like Torrance, which has a large Japanese population.
I have never felt inconvenienced at all.
The environment is quiet and the crime rate is extremely low compared to other areas.
The neighbors are also financially well-off, so the people are very calm.
The climate is mountainous, so the temperature is a little cooler, but in the summer it is cool and really comfortable. PV is also very large and only in some places. Landslide areas are already not rentable, so don't worry. No problem at all. We hope you have a good life in the US.

If you have a family, safety and school district will be a priority, so Paloyama would be the best choice if you want to live in Los Angeles.
If you avoid landslide areas and areas where houses stand on cliffs, you should be fine.
