My parents in Tokyo sent me a package by sea on 12/14 and it finally arrived yesterday (3/26). It took 2 and half months for the last delivery, but this time it took even longer, but I am glad that it arrived safely and the contents were not opened.

The shipping service seems to come via San Francisco, not directly from Japan.

Shipments were via San Francisco, but letters and other airmail arrived via LA.

The airmail arrived just as I was getting anxious because it had been stalled for days and had not moved at all from the LA facility, even though I had added tracking.
Tracking shows that it is still stalled in LA.

I am a resident of Burbank.
As for maternity hospitals, Huntington Hoapital in Pasadena is well equipped and can handle any type of birth.
I found a doctor at Fair Oaks Women's Health.
Huntington and Fair Oaks Women's Health recommend natural birth, so they don't want to rush you into a C section just because of the time it takes to get out of there. I had to wait over 3 hours for the actual final push, but they let me deliver normally instead of C section.
However, unless you have good insurance, I think the cost here is higher than other places, especially for labor at Huntington hospital.
