If you get the Skype number(050-xxxxxxxxxxxxx), you can call directly from your Japanese phone to a U.S. cell phone. See the URL below. However, $ 52/y payment is required. Also, you need to have a Japanese address to purchase the service. This service is for Japan only and only for receiving calls.

Another option is to get Brastel's 050 number. See the following URL.
https://choro.asia/hoken/kaigaikara-0120-free-dial-brastel.htm
This service is free as long as you don't call out. It is especially useful when calling 0120 numbers. However, when you call a Brastel 050 number from a Japanese phone, sometimes it calls the cell phone application properly and sometimes it does not, and there are stability problems, so I mainly use the Skype number for receiving calls only.

Thanks for your answer.

Actually, every time I log in to do web business, I receive a text to verify my identity.

Can I receive texts with my skype number ？

I have a Japanese address. I would like to get a Skype number if I can receive texts for a yearly fee $ 52.

Please let me know if you know. Please do.

I use Google FI, which allows calls and WIFI in 200 countries with a US SIM
but when I bring it to Japan, can I receive calls in Japan with a US phone number ？ I never thought of that.

I have never tried it, but I believe the Skype number is for calls only and not for SMS. I checked the Microsoft article; SMS authentication is a headache for those living abroad. Furthermore, Japanese SMS authentication is usually set up assuming a valid cell phone number in Japan, so I think it may be impossible from this point of view. （ Personal Opinion ）

Thanks again for your reply.
I asked Skype. I asked Skype about it, but they said I can't receive SMS after all.
I could receive SMS from my Japanese cell phone in the US if I set up a VPN in Japan, but I am considering cancelling it because the communication fee of my Japanese cell phone has become too expensive.
