From Japan, the documents are usually received in about 7 days.

If you live overseas, the deadline for filing is June 15

If you have a payment, you can confirm that the IRS has received your documents by having the money debited.

If you have a refund, you can check the status on the irs.gov site by searching for Where is my refund.

If you have neither a refund nor a payment, go to irs.gov and search for get transcript to access that page and check the contents of your claim.

However, it can take months for a paper file.
