Double Kinman, I'm glad you were able to get two tickets. The price is so low that it won't go down any further. Singapore arrives at Narita in the evening, so I will stay there for the day and then head for Tokyo. That 1,000 yen per trip shuttle bus I mentioned earlier is my choice. Ryogoku was not out of line. So, Mr. Baikinman lived near there. This year, I happened to find a good AirBnB in Ryogoku, so I plan to use it as a base for my Tokyo fun. Well, I'm not interested in sumo this much, but Ryogoku is known for it, so I'm looking forward to visiting museums and eating chanko-nabe.

＞ Singapore arrives at Narita in the evening

Yes, the SQ11 flight departing this November departs from LAX at 14:45 and arrives at NRT at 19:30, and the flight departing next May will arrive at 19:00 from 15:30. It seems that the May flight leaves later and arrives earlier, probably due to seasonal jet stream. I will probably stay at a hostel in Asakusa which is open until 22:00 if I call in as usual, so if I can catch the Narita Sky Access Line around 20:30, I will arrive around 21:40. However, if something happens to delay my arrival, I may have to consider the option of staying at Narita Airport or a hotel near the airport.

There is a capsule hotel at Airport Terminal 2. But it costs 6,900 yen per night unless you make a reservation 7 days in advance. I hope there won't be a rush of flights from China around 7 pm.

Since then, I have been curious about SQ's arrival time at Narita, so I checked what time other airlines arrive at Narita. Here are the times for May next year.

DL HND 13:50
UA NRT 15:10

SQ NRT 19:00

SQ is the slowest. As I mentioned above, if it takes more than an hour at worst to finally get through customs and out of the restricted area because of the foreigner line at immigration, it will be well past 8:00, already too late to enter the city center. If I had to stay overnight at the airport, I would have to stay at the airport or a hotel near the airport, but my "kecchimbo" swelled up and I thought that I could do the same at Narita Airport, as Pasaporte-san used to talk about staying on a bench at Haneda Airport. I checked YouTube to see if that could be done at Narita Airport.

Then I saw that there is a splendid one. It's called the "North Waiting Area" and is located in the direction of Terminal 3, which is used by many LCCs in Terminal 2 and is quite far from SQ and ANA Terminal 1, but there is a free shuttle bus that goes to Terminal 2 and I don't mind the distance if I can sleep for free. There are countless single-seat chairs, several flat benches with cushions about 3 tatami mats, and to my surprise, a 16 tatami mat room. I will include this as an option on my next flight to Narita by SQ.

I always fly international, business and above, but I get very tired between LAX_TYO.

＞ The flight next May will depart at 15:30 and arrive at 19:00. Baikinman, this is probably speaking in US summer time, so standard time is 14:30 in Japan. I think there is only a 15 minute difference from when your wife leaves. I think it is already standard time in November when she goes. Either way, arriving at Narita at 7pm is pretty late, so I checked the hotels around Narita and they start at about $50. I am two people, so I am happy enough with this price. If you think it is too much for one person, you have to make other choices.

I was in Singapore once, and when I arrived at Narita, I found that the flight attendants from Singapore were also in the same hotel. It was quite powerful when several of them came into the same elevator at once. But they were polite. LOL.
