As usual John Doe mentioned in the following Y/T, those who can now enter Japan have been quarantined for several days so far, but it seems that this March they will be released without charge if they pass three vaccine certifications and a PCR test at the airport. There was no word on whether public transportation from the airport would be available.

By the way, from now on foreign nationals I have heard that from now on, foreign nationals will need a visa even to enter the country as tourists, but I have no information on how to obtain such a visa. There is nothing on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or the U.S. Consulate General of Japan website. Is this matter still under discussion? Even if tourist visas were to be distributed, it would be impractical for individuals to go to the consulate to apply for/obtain one, so perhaps it would be something like ESTA, which is issued by the US consulate in Japan. If all the procedures could be done online, that would be great.
