If we build a factory in Mexico to make what we are making in China,
it would be convenient because we are connected by land.

If a factory is built in Mexico and employment is provided to Mexicans and people from Central and South America,
the number of people who go to the U.S. will decrease.

Certainly such a theory would hold true if one only looked at the map, but in reality there have been such moves in the past, including by Japanese manufacturers.

About 30 years ago, the now-defunct Sanyo Electric Co. started production of color TVs and small air conditioners by building a factory on the other side of the border. But then China emerged as the "world's factory" and the border business seems to have disappeared.

Now, I wonder what direction the world will take when this pandemic is completely over.

Even though China is rising and we have our eyes on them,
if we were making it in China, what we are doing and what we do don't mesh.
We need to think about getting out of China. Building a wall on the border will not reduce illegal immigration.
Now that $1.00 store items are now 25 cents on the dollar.

If it's not profitable to build it in the U.S. because of labor costs, etc.,
can't we come up with the idea of building it in Mexico?
